This pendant was inspired by the Weirwood Tree in A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones. It is made with real garnet stone chips (said to have protective energies), silver-plated wire (just the tree, not the base), and driftwood collected by hand from Lake Superior.

Ever since I made my House Stark themed tree (rachaelswiregarden.deviantart.… I've been wanting to make a weirwood tree that has a face. As time went on, I also got several comments saying that I should incorporate a face somehow. I wasted a bunch materials trying to make a "face" with wire, so when I went on my little mini-vacation road trip to Duluth, Wisconsin, and Michigan, I collected some pieces of driftwood off the shores of Lake Superior.

After looking up different versions of weirwood tree faces on google, I used clay-working tools and I started carving my own. Luckily for me, driftwood is soft lol so being that I'd never carved wood in my life, it was fairly easy. This particular weirwood trunk is the second one I carved - the first one I wanted to look whiter and so I stuck it in bleach... that didn't turn out so well xD.

Unfortunately, all I have for red paint are watercolors and some really bright acrylic stuff, so I decided not to put the red sap tears in. Hopefully the dark wood underneath suffices enough ^.^ I had some help from :iconartlodesigns: to figure out how to attach the wire to the wood. She gave me different ideas and I chose to carve a little groove in the back of the tree and glue the wire in it. It worked really well, but it also turned out to not be as neat as I thought, so if I ever make another one of these I'll probably drill down through the middle somehow and glue the wire there instead (I don't plan to make another one any time soon lol).

The clasp (I know there's a name for it, so if anyone knows please tell me xD) turned out A LOT better than I thought it would... usually there are so many more scrapes when I try to do this design without the wolf head. You can probably see the little nicks here and there, and how the wire is a bit bumpy-looking. This is because I had already had it twisted like the rest of the base, had to untwist, and then try to straighten it without scratching the wire. I did the best I could with that, I hope it's okay ^.^

ANYWAYS, after writing a big novel about it lol, I hope everyone enjoys! I know there are errors here and there, so when I make another one I'll try to fix those =]

The Tree of Life symbolizes spiritual growth and wisdom, strength, protection, and connectedness. It is a healthy model that inspires the spirit and encourages hope in all hearts.

These are delicate, wire wrapped pendants that should be handled with care. Some of the stones, glass, or shells used to create the tree can break if handled roughly.
