This Tree of Life pendant was inspired by the Celtic holiday, Ostara! Also known as the Spring Equinox, Ostara is celebrated on or around the 21st of March. It is a time that celebrates the fertility of the land, as the ground grows warmer and plants and flowers begin to emerge from the ground. Any symbols of fertility - such as eggs and bunnies - are common themes for this celebration!

Ostara and Easter are derived from the word, "Eostre," which is the name of a Spring fertility goddess that is celebrated during this time. Although she has only been mentioned once in Anglo-Saxon literature and there is otherwise not much evidence of an actual historical goddess named "Eostre," there are so many fun stories about this goddess! Popular tales about how she would transform into a rabbit and play with children, and throw colorful, decorated eggs to them, are early roots in today's "Easter Bunny."

To create this piece, I used peridot stones (a light green color to represent early Spring), Swarovski crystals for Eostre's crown of flowers, seed beads for more flowers and petals in her hair, and clay little bunnies. This pendant measures approximately 3 inches tall (including the bail) and approximately 2 1/2 inches across at the widest area.

Oxidized creations bear no protective coating or false coloring of wire. This pendant will continue to tarnish and naturally change through the years.

The Tree of Life symbolizes spiritual growth and wisdom, strength, protection, and connectedness. It is a healthy model that inspires the spirit and encourages hope in all hearts.

These are delicate, wire wrapped pendants that should be handled with care. Some of the stones, glass, or shells used to create the tree can break if handled roughly.

This is such a beautifully stunning piece. I love the hair decorations, the beads that are placed along the wire for the length of her hair and the crown of beads atop her head. I also love the spring green you chose for the tree and the way you sculpted the goddess' body here. Of course, the bunnies just make it perfect - and that tiny decorated egg is a marvelous touch! :D
